Glasgow based Engine formed as a result of the "genre redefining" Ouch club nights where vocalists and musicians would jam with DJ's and fuse styles together spontaneously. Founding member Martin Manley decided to put a full-time band together with the vision of writing "music you can dance to with songs that mean something" (Belfast Telegraph).
The original line-up includes Kath Knox (vocal), Gillian McMeekin (vocal), Stuart Macpherson (bass), Euan Collins (guitar) and Martin Manley (programming). They spent 2 years touring in both the UK and abroad, and released a couple of singles, which featured Groove Armada's Tom Findlay and Tim Hutton’s sleazy mixes of the singles under their “Suggadaddies” moniker.
